PSA Screening of Asymptomatic Men Not Recommended

TITLE: Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA) Screening in Asymptomatic Men

REF: http://www.ices.on.ca/PDFs/Technica...SA%20report.pdf

STUDY TYPE: review of the literature

CONCLUSION: asymptomatic men should not be screened for prostate cancer using the PSA test. According to the National Health Service of the UK, "The NHS will not be inviting men for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) testing and does not expect GPs to raise the subject of PSA testing with asymptomatic male patients."

COMMENT: this is an extensive and thorough literature review of the subject.
