Principles for Article Selection
- The Internet Medical Association is a non-profit organization that conducts the Journal Club and is responsible for article selection. The Continuing Medical Education committee meets quarterly at a minimum to verify compliance with these principles.
- Articles must be from a peer-reviewed medical journal
- Articles ideally should be freely available on the Internet with no requirements for user registration or payment.
- We follow the Fair-Use Statute in selecting articles to use in the journal club. Namely, articles are strictly for educational purposes and the origin of the article is clearly stated with a hyperlink to the article's home page.
The primary online medical journal meeting the above criteria is BMJ, although journal club selections may include any article meeting the above requirements.
