Injuries from paintball game related activities in the United States, 1997–2001
This study from the CDC found that annually about 4.5 out of 10,000 participants in paintball required emergency room treatment. Greater than 60% of injuries were due to pellet wounds, of which most were to the eye. Over 95% of injured persons treated and released from the ER (i.e. did not require hospital admission.
