T4 as Effective as Combination T3/T4 Therapy in Hypothyroidism

[Clinical Thyroidology Review] This article found that T4 alone was as effective as combination T3/T4 therapy in the treatment of hypothyroidism. This is the fourth recent article to come to this conclusion, according to the reviewer, Dr. Robert D. Utiger. COMMENT: this is reassuring and confirms what is typically done.

Replacement therapy with levothyroxine plus triiodothyronine (bioavailable molar ratio 14:1) is not superior to thyroxine alone to improve well-being and cognitive performance in hypothyroidism.
