Induced hypothermia found to help protect brain function after a cardiac arrest
This preliminary, small study of 9 patients found an association between induced hypothermia (using a cooling blanket) and preservation of brain function. The hypothesis is that cooling the body may reduce inflammation and suppress the release of damaging brain chemicals.
