Bone Scan of the Knee. What's your diagnosis?
Attached to this message is a bone scan of the knee.
HISTORY: 25 year old miner suffered from trauma to his left knee 1 year ago. Since then, he has undergone 3 surgeries. The last surgery revealed gangion cysts present within the knee. The knee continues to swell up at work when he exerts himself (it doesn't swell up when he's on light duty).
CORRELATIVE IMAGING: a recent MRI of the left knee was negative
SCAN PROCEDURE: a three phase bone scan was performed. Flow images (not shown) where normal. Blood pool image (not shown) showed increased uptake in the left mid knee. Delayed images are attached to this post ( bonescan.jpg) - What is your chief diagnosis?
- What is in the differential, and how likely are these possibilities?
