Effect of a high-protein, energy-restricted diet on body composition, glycemic control, and lipid concentrations in overweight and obese hyperinsulinemic men and women
This study found that a high-protein diet used for weight loss was associated with beneficial metabolic effects (e.g. better glycemic control) without causing an increase in markers of bone turnover or calcium excretion. Comment: this study seems to support the protein diet for weight loss. [ American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vol. 78, No. 1, 31-39, July 2003 ]
