Cost-Effectiveness of PET Perfusion Imaging

TITLE: Comparison of cost-effectiveness and utility of exercise ECG, single photon emission computed tomography, positron emission tomography, and coronary angiography for diagnosis of coronary artery disease.

REF: Patterson RE et al. Circulation. 1995 Jan 1;91(1):54-65. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/...9&dopt=Abstract

Emory University

STUDY TYPE: Evaluation of the literature.

CONCLUSION: In a population with a pre-test likelihood of coronary artery disease of < 70%, stress PET perfusion imaging with Rb-82 had the lowest cost per quality adjusted life years extended by therapy after the diagnosis of coronary artery disease. Stress PET also had the lowest cost per diagnosis of coronary artery disease.
