Statins Top US Pharmaceutical Sales

The cholesterol lowering statins were the top class of pharmaceuticals in terms of sales in the US in 2002. Overall, US pharmaceutical sales grew by 12% to $220 billion. Worldwide, drug sales totalled $430 billion, a growth of 8%. [ bmj.com Gottlieb 326 (7388): 518c ]
