Fixed doses of I-131 are as effective as adjusted doses in Grave's Hyperthyroidism
this study found that a fixed dose of I-131 was as effective as a dose of I-131 based on thyroid gland size and radioiodine uptake. COMMENT: The editor of this journal, Robert D. Utiger, M.D., states that we may be best off giving all patients with Grave's hyperthyroidism a very high dose of I-131, 20 mCi. This is not the standard treatment, but would result in patients quickly going from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism.
