7 in 10 British women survive breast cancer
Disease awareness and early diagnosis are presumed to be the reason that 70% of British women survive breast cancer.
In a recent study, the majority of British girls learn about the disease between the ages of 10 and 19, about 10 or more years earlier than their mothers had.
Doctors were the most common source of information about breast cancer, followed by leaflets and television.
British experts say that nine out of 10 breast lumps are harmless.
