UMass Researcher Suing To Grow Marijuana

Lyle Craker is suing the US Goverment to let him to grow marijuana for research. "There is an urgent need for an alternative supply of marijuana for medical research" said Mr. Craker. He is a Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

AAFP Policy Statement: The American Academy of Family Physicians opposes the use of marijuana except under medical supervision and control for specific medical indications. (1989) (2001)

COMMENT: the above could be interpreted as meaning that the American Academy of Family Physicians supports the use of prescription marijuana for medical purposes, but not for over-the-counter sales.
