The Internet Medical Journal (ISSN 1093-7935) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access medical journal established in 1996. The journal publishes original research, commentaries, methods notes, and reviews across the medical and health sciences, with a particular focus on research methodology and statistical evidence quality.
The journal welcomes submissions from a wide range of disciplines, including internal medicine, surgery, clinical specialties, public health, medical education, and interdisciplinary studies related to healthcare. Articles are published on a rolling, article-by-article basis, supporting rapid dissemination of new work. The journal has been published intermittently in some years, and some early content predating the current archive is no longer available.

Open Access, Fees, Indexing, and Archiving
All content is immediately open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license. The journal currently charges no submission or article processing fees. All articles are permanently archived in the journal's Zenodo community with DOI assignment. The journal is indexed by Google Scholar.
Peer Review
All articles undergo peer review. The initial review is performed by a large language model functioning as a standard peer reviewer. This review is confidential, visible only to the editor and the corresponding author, and is not published. Manuscripts are kept private and are not used for model training. The editor then conducts a second review and makes the final decision regarding acceptance or a recommendation to resubmit or submit elsewhere. This process was implemented in early 2026 with the intent to improve the objectivity and thoroughness of review, remove reviewer conflicts of interest, apply consistent criteria to every submission, keep unpublished work confidential from competing researchers, and return decisions in days rather than months. As of July 2026, we are not aware of another journal that has openly adopted a large language model as its initial peer reviewer.
Editorial Board Membership
The Internet Medical Journal is expanding its editorial board and welcomes applications from researchers and clinicians with an established, verifiable publication record. Board members review manuscripts in the journal's core areas. Applicants should hold a terminal degree or equivalent research standing, maintain an authenticated ORCID iD linked to a public list of publications, and be able to commit to reviewing 2–4 manuscripts per year with a turnaround of two to three weeks per review. The Internet Medical Journal invites submissions in research methodology, statistical fragility and robustness, and artificial intelligence in clinical medicine. Open access, no author fees, DOI and permanent archiving for every article, and an initial editorial decision targeted within three weeks.
