Writing Rules

The Internet Medical Journal publishes Original Research, Reviews, Methods Notes, and Perspectives in medicine, health sciences, and research methodology.

Length, excluding references: Original Research and Reviews up to 5,000 words, Methods Notes up to 2,500, Perspectives up to 1,500. Every submission needs an abstract of 300 words or fewer and three to eight keywords.

Submit in Word, ODT, or RTF. Single-spaced, 12-point, italics rather than underlining. Place figures and tables in the text where they belong, each with a caption that stands on its own. Put the title, authors, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, and the corresponding author's email in a separate title page file.

Original Research follows IMRaD. Reviews state the search strategy and databases searched in a Methods section. Methods Notes define the method formally and include a worked example. Perspectives advance a single argument.

References follow ICMJE (Vancouver): numbered in order of first appearance, in square brackets, with a DOI where one exists. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of every reference.

End the manuscript with declarations of authorship, conflicts of interest, funding, ethics approval and consent where applicable, data availability, and any use of AI tools. Write "none" rather than omitting one.

Submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. A disclosed preprint is not prior publication.

Submit through the journal's online system.
